A variety of exciting attractions and interesting things to do exist in the area around Gatlinburg, Tennessee - located on the edge of the Smoky Mountains. That really isn't the question. The real question is what you are going to choose.

There is white water rafting, over 600 miles of track and trails to enjoy hikes on, swimming at pools, streams, rivers, and lakes, ice skating during the winter, more fishing locations count even with your shoes off, ski lodges, small shops and large shopping complexes, arts, crafts and Harley Davidson's. There are aquariums to visit and tramways to take, lifts to sit on both in winter and in summer, you can go on Llama treks and horse back riding, shoot 18 holes of put-put or take your chances on regulation sized greens, visit bears or hunt dear, eat at major national restaurants or enjoy the local culinary delights. The list goes on and on.

The list even gets more extreme when you take into consideration all the things that you can do in neighboring Pigeon Forge. This is a place that is essentially a year round carnival. They have flashing lights and carnival style attractions all up and down the main drag in Pigeon Forge, kind of like a family style Las Vegas.

Another key ingredient to amount of things you can do in Gatlinburg is that they also have extensive lodging options. They have all the major hotels that you could wish for on any vacation. Sometimes these hotels even have discounts to help get you in the door because competition is so fierce among them. This is good for you and your wallet.

Another important option on your Gatlinburg family vacation is a cabin rental. These are very good for larger parties or families because they provide you more space and more ways to cut costs than a hotel.

For starters, cabin rentals have a kitchen. This can save you tons of money on food, allowing you spend more on all of the really fun and interesting attractions in and around Gatlinburg. Instead of spending $20 for 4 meals at an Arby's, you can have your family eat for $10 and spend that difference on miniature golf at the Davey Crocket themed course. Many cabins also have plates, utensils, and cups so that you don't even have to buy those. Everything is provided!

The other way that a Gatlinburg cabin rental will help you save money is that they allow you to house many people under one roof. Renting 3 or 4 rooms at a hotel can get very expensive very quickly and nobody wants that. But a cabin usually has a fixed expense and can often hold many more people than the websites say that they can. There is plenty of space for blow up mattresses and even more space for those in sleeping bags with floor mats. You could easily turn a 15 person cabin into a 30 person cabin and that could save you a significant amount of money.

Definitely look into all the wonderful things to do in Gatlinburg before you head there and be sure to decide what lodging option works best for you on your trip.

The BMF Motorcycle Show, the No 1 Festival for Bikes in UK

No matter who you are or where you live, it is not hard to see that gas prices are higher than they were a few years ago, and it is not likely they will drop much lower than they are now. In our society, bigger has often been thought to be better. When it comes to vehicles, bigger might seem safer, but that is not necessarily true. Think back to the high-center, rollover problems that SUV's had just ten years ago.

The only conclusion that can be made about bigger vehicles is that they are more expensive to own and operate. Bigger vehicles require more expensive maintenance and repairs, and more recently, bigger means that it could easily cost $80 to fill the gas tank of that bigger, better truck.

Two decades ago, the federal government foresaw the need to teach Americans to use less fuel. The American Federal Government passed laws requiring auto manufacturers to manufacture vehicles with higher gas mileage ratings, but as is always the case with the political landscape in Washington, D.C., compromises were made. The one compromise that led us to our current fuel price crisis is that Washington exempted trucks and SUV's from the higher gas mileage rules. If it were not for these exemptions being made, Arnold Schwarzenegger would not be driving the 15/10mpg Hummer H2H.

The 20-Somethings Get It...

Our younger generations get it. They get that America as a collective society must take steps to decrease our dependence on foreign fuel sources and we must take steps to protect the environment. The 20-Somethings have chosen to buy vehicles that get better gas mileage, and better yet, they have ushered in the acceptance of the scooter as a viable means of transport.

Young people in this country are opting to drive motorcycles and scooters, instead of their father's Oldsmobiles. If you have any doubt, you only need to visit any college town across the country to see scooters filling the roadways.

Scooters On The Road

The Italian-made Vespa Scooters are one of the more popular gasoline-powered scooter brands on the road today. Their high-end LX models retail for under $5,000, and deliver 70-80 mpg at near 60 mph. The Vespa Scooters have actually been on the road since 1946, so the company has a lot of experience in manufacturing this type of product.

Other popular models include the Riptide Scooter, the Sinclair Scooter and the Wasp Scooter, all made by the American company GS MotorWorks. Historically, GS MotorWorks has also sold the Euro Scooter, the Retro Scooter, and Sport Scooters.

The Genuine Scooter Company produces its own line of scooters as well. Their super-charged Blur Scooters can turn on a dime and jet down the highway at nearly 70 mph. Their Black Cat model delivers more than 100 mpg on a scooter that is limited to a top speed of 30 mph. The Buddy Scooter will deliver 100 mpg, with speeds limited to 30 mph and 70 mph, depending on the model. Their Rattler Scooter is made for those rough country roads and is expected out later this year. The Genuine Scooter Company also offers a range of Stella scooter accessories, including the motorcycle-style, Stella sidecar.

Motorcycles Serve The Transportation Needs of All Generations of Riders

Motorcycles used to just be for rebels of society. Now, from teenagers to those approaching retirement, men and women, free spirits and business executives, motorcycles are everywhere. In rural areas and major cities, many people are choosing motorcycles to get them to where they want to be.

While scooters are popular among the high school and college students, older generations favor the motorcycle over the scooter. Many people were introduced to dirt bikes when they were kids, and they fell in love with the motorcycle at a young age. As adults, they now have a much wider selection of motorcycles from which to choose.

There are still many brands of motorcycles available in the marketplace: Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Yamaha, and the American-brands Harley Davidson and Kodiak. Of course, these manufacturers make a standard motorcycle for the average rider, racing bikes for the adrenaline junkies, the touring bike for those riders who like long, leisurely journeys across the country, and the recreational dirt bike for those who like off-road riding.

Off-Road Pleasures And Farming Utility

Of course, there are also people looking at motorcycles and ATVs not for transportation, but for recreation, a chance to get out in the dirt and blow off steam. The options here are no less limited, from lightweight motor-cross bikes to four-wheel ATVs, these motorcycles are built for fun.

The ATV is a popular product for the off-road riders, because it adds extra wheels to the riding surface, allowing for a slower pace and more safety. Even the aging rock giant Ozzie Osborne is known to ride a four-wheel ATV in his spare time for fun.

In the modern-age of ranching, the three-wheel and four-wheel ATV has replaced many horses, as the rancher's transportation vehicle of choice. While you might be able to talk to and pet your horse, you cannot pull a trailer behind your horse. For strictly utilitarian purposes, the ATV simply makes more sense to most ranchers. In fact, many ranchers use the ATV to haul feed out to the horses. How is that for irony?

Motorcycle Safety Equipment

Riding motorcycles safely, whether riding for transportation between home and office, on longer trips, or just for recreation requires two things: common sense and appropriate gear. Common sense means understanding where it is safe to ride, following the rules of the road, wearing the right clothing, and avoiding unnecessary risks.

Even if there are not helmet laws in your state, requiring motorcyclists to wear helmets when they ride, helmets could mean the difference between a minor traffic accident and a funeral. Additionally, it is a good idea to wear proper shoes, boots, and clothing, as well as a visor or protective glasses.

Riders should keep in mind that vision is key to knowing what is going on around them; so choosing the proper helmet with a good viewing radius is important. If the rider chooses to not wear a helmet, a good set of goggles is the next essential piece of safety equipment. Remember, if that bug is flying across your path when it hits you, it could easily bypass those sunglasses and hit you in the eye, temporarily blinding you at 70 mph.

Proper Motorcycle Maintenance

The importance of proper motorcycle maintenance is fully realized when one thinks about the consequences of a front tire blowout at 70 mph. I don't even want to think about that possibility. As they say, "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."

Good motorcycle maintenance means a lot of things. It means to make sure that the motorcycle always has a good set of tires on it. It means making sure that the motorcycle always has a good set of brakes. Motorcycles are inexpensive to care for properly, so there is no excuse for not taking care of it in a way that will prevent accidents and malfunctions.

By looking over the vehicle at regular intervals, one will be able to determine whether there are motorcycle parts, scooter parts, or even ATV parts that will need to be replaced in order to help keep the vehicle in its best condition. For example, with motorcycles, riders should always take a close look at the clutch cable, fasteners, spokes, steering heads, oil levels, and brake pads. These motorcycle parts often show signs of wear and not fixing the problem in a timely manner could easily lead to an accident.

Similarly, there are scooter parts that riders should examine regularly. Scooter tires, starters, batteries, fuel filters, chains, and other parts can suffer wear and reduce the safety and reliability of the scooter.

http://www.auto-parts.moneybizhome.com

ATV and off-road cyclists who ride on trails and other rough surfaces will see wear and tear to a much larger degree, and they may need to replace a variety of parts to keep riding fun: oil filters, gaskets, tires, pistons, and brakes. Additional ATV parts also need to be cared for and maintained at regular intervals. Off-road riders should also check the frame of their motorcycle or ATV on a regular basis, in order to ensure that the frame has not become a hazard to the safe operation of the bike.

No matter what, why, or how you ride, staying safe is the key. Replacing worn parts, wearing protective clothing, and following the rules of the road, all serve to keep motorized travel and recreation safe for people of all ages.

Motorcycles Provide Inexpensive Motorized Travel and Recreation for People of All Ages

Riding a motorcycle is something of an adventure that no man (and some women) can deny. There's a very good reason why ridiculously expensive super bikes and manufactured and purchased; why Valentino Rossi is considered god of racing and why people will leave jobs and homes behind to go cross-county biking on they Harley Davidsons. As exhilarating as it may be, in the case of an accident, motorbikes and bikers are just as dangerous and they are adventurous. This is probably a reason why fatalities in bike accidents are always much higher than in car or other accidents

The basic reason for this is that bikes offer very little protection to the riders, unlike a car or any vehicle. The balance is also quite precarious. An inexperienced rider will not be able to handle sharp turns and rough spots at high speeds. Bikers themselves are quite open to elements of nature. Rainfall, winds and dust can make things very risky for bikes. A small pebble hitting a biker's face when he's at a good speed could spew disaster. However, there are many other causes which could be completely avoided thus making riding much safer to practice:

1. Proper Maintenance: Often, badly maintained bikes are the root of accidents. Bikes that are wobbly, that give uneasy handling and that are not serviced and checked regularly are quite prone to taking a bad hit in accidents. It makes things doubly unsafe for the biker. Getting specific part checked by professionals, replacing tires when they're due and taking care of all the small things that bother you is quite important.

2. Flawed Technique: Riding isn't as simple as revving the accelerated and pressing down on the clutch. Different situations on the road, the weather and the traffic call for a different kind of riding technique and a different mindset. For example, while riding on gravel – bikers must be careful not to accelerate too much and brake too quickly. While riding through an oil spill, bikers should know how to maintain control and stability while moving along.

3. Pedestrians: There is no point in crashing into a pedestrian and then claiming that he crossed at the wrong time. Since he was a poor chap on feet, and you were the big guy on two wheels – you will be held responsible. It is important to be able to anticipate pedestrian behavior.

4. Weather Precautions: Riding in bad weather per se is not risky, provided one knows what precautions to take. For example, riding in the rain will require rain proof jackets, water proof shoes, large goggles that can keep mud out of your eye and also lots of common sense. In this case too, experience and technique matters.

These precautions may sound trite, but their importance is accentuated when you are involved in an accident, and you have to prove that you were not at fault. If you take care of the above things, you will be able to get away unscathed.

Avoiding Motorcycle Accidents

The Jack Daniel's legend starts with the eponymous founder of the distillery, who allegedly owned his first distillery at the tender age of 13, having learned his skill at the knee of Dan Call - one of those moon shining preachers who pepper the history of American whiskey. Jack was a clever operator, but it's hard to imagine that he envisaged his brand would one day become the most famous American whiskey of all.

These days it's Jimmy Bradford who wearing Jack's shoes. The epitome of a Southern gentleman (unlike the short-tempered Jack, who died after kicking a safe in his office), he's been looking after the whiskey for 32 years, which, he drawls laconically: 'probably gives me some credibility to talk about distilling'.

They make whiskey slightly differently in Tennessee, though it's not - as many people think - sour-mashing that sets it apart. All Bourbon and Tennessee whiskey is made by the sour mash technique: the real difference lies in the Lincoln County Process, or charcoal mellowing, which all Tennessee whiskey must undergo.

For Jimmy, it's the combination of the limestone water drawn from Cave Spring and the mellowing that helps to give Jack Daniel's its personality. The mellowing involves dripping the new spirit though a 10-foot vat of maple charcoal, which leaches some fusel oils and esters from the spirit, while giving it a distinct softness.

There's only one mashbill - 80 per cent corn, 12 per cent rye and 8 per cent barley malt - for all the Jack Daniel's brands; meaning that the sole difference between such diverse products as Green Label, Black Label and Gentleman Jack lies in the length of time they have been aged and where they have been warehoused. With a spread of traditional warehouses, the blenders can mingle whiskeys from different sites and floors to make up the desired product, and with 7,500 barrels a week being put into the warehouses, they have plenty of choice.

That figure gives an idea of the sheer scale of the operation. Owner Brown-Forman may, rightly, play up the Sleepy Hollow-type imagery surrounding the small town of Lynchburg, but don't be fooled: this is a bang-up-to-date distillery applying old techniques in a highly efficient and modern manner. Jack may recognize the site, but he'd be astounded by the three huge beer stills and intrigued by the way in which the vapour is fed directly into the doubler, making it a refined type of single distillation.

But you don't think of Jack Daniel's in production terms. The visitors who pour into the distillery aren't that interested in mellowing, distillation techniques or the pros and cons of mechanization. They come because they feel part of a family. When an Australian winemaker I know went to America for the first time, the two places at the top of her 'must-see' list were Graceland and the Jack Daniel's distillery. It's that kind of loyalty that makes Jack an American icon.

These days, Jack Daniel's is as recognizable a symbol of American rock 'n' roll rebelliousness as Harley Davidson. It hasn't gone out and developed a bad-boy image, but clutching one of those square bottles with the black label brings out the rebel in even the most mild-mannered accountant, and makes him feel, if only for one drink, the equal of Keith Richards or Dennis Hopper.

You would think that being in charge of such an iconic product would prey on Jimmy's mind, but there's no chance of that. He approaches this onerous responsibility with the same pleasant, measured good humour as he does the rest of life. 'It's a pleasure to assist in making this product. Just to drive in every day and see Jack standing there down the holler gives me a sense of pride'.

TASTING NOTES

Jack Daniel's Black Label 80°proof Very sweet and clean, with a touch of liquorice, smoke and caramel. A good mouthful with a great, sweet finish. * * *

Gentleman Jack 80°proof
Even sweeter, with black fruit and a sooty, rich finish.

The Great American Whiskey That Is Jack Daniels

When you first bought your Harley Davidson boots, you knew you want them to last a long time with you. Not only because you spent some good amount of money on them but also because you love your boots so much that you want to keep on wearing them for as long as possible.

This should not be too much of a challenge since these boots are made from hardwearing leather material that can withstand wear and tear even after so many years. But of course, as the owner, you need to do your share in caring and maintaining the boots because even if they are made of top quality, they should still be given the right attention.

Here are some important tips on how to care for your precious Harley Boots.

Keep dust off your boots. Leather can easily accumulate dust if you do not do daily cleaning. Remember to clean your boots every day or every after use to remove surface dust and dirt. Wipe it with a clean damp cloth and allow to dry naturally. Dust left on the boots for a long time can settle into the leather.
Use specialized high quality leather cleaner. It is not advisable to use whatever detergent or cleaning solution you find in your home to clean your footwear. You need to use a solution that is specially designed for leather boots such as Harley Davidson.
Condition the leather. Aside from the leather cleaner, it is also a must to condition leather at least once a week to keep it soft and supple. If you are residing in a place where the climate is dry, you need to condition your leather shoes more often. Also, it would be a smart move to consider the footwear right after you clean them while they are still damp since moist leather absorbs conditioner more effectively. Just do not put too much because excessive conditioning can lead to sticky and dull leather.
Polish your boots. Use a shoe cream designed for leather. Choose one that matches the color of your boots and use a soft cloth to apply the cream. Allow the cream to dry a few minutes before brushing or buffing to give it the shine that would make it look good as new.
Air dry naturally. It is never a good idea to expose your boots to extreme heat, not even if you want to speed up drying process. Do not put the leather near any heat source as this can harm the material badly. Allow the boots to air dry naturally after cleaning.
Handle with care. Yes, your Harley Boots can withstand wear and tear but this does not mean that it is all right for you to abuse them. As much as possible, do not subject them to extremely rough conditions. Or if you need to, just clean them up properly after.

Caring for a pair of Harley Davidson footwear should not be too difficult if you follow these suggestions. These tips are also applicable to other kinds of boots such as Kids Harley Davidson Boots and Harley Boots for Women.

Interesting Facts in the World

UFC and MMA are exciting acronyms for Ultimate Fighting Championship and Mixed martial Arts. UFC is a part of MMA. Currently the UFC is recognized as the largest MMA promotion around the entire world. The UFC is owned and operated by Zuffa LLC and their HQ is in Las Vegas Nevada. The UFC involves mixed martial arts which was based on Brazilian vale tudo.

When UFC first started out there were just a few limited amount of rules and most all of the fights were brutal and violent. Some even ended in death. It was more or less known as a "no holds barred" competition, but after a lot of flack from the press the UFC had to change and slowly started embracing stricter rules, also marketing themselves as a legit sporting event. Techniques like biting, eye gouging, hair pulling are frowned up on in the world of UFC but are still allowed.

Over the years the UFC has become more socially acceptable and has gained popularity from people around the world. UFC fights on television can be seen on SpikeTv in the US and 35 other countries. The UFC can also be seen on pay-per-view which wildly enough has broken every single record ever dated, as making well over $222,766,000 in one year alone in the year 2006. This surpasses that of WWE and boxing! The UFC has also decided in 2008 to go more mainstream and has announced two major exclusive sponsors, that of Harley Davidson and Anheuser-Busch, making Bud Light the official beer sponsor of the UFC. This was an incredible feat for both Harley and Anheuser-Busch. The UFC continues to rise to a searing popularity, gracing the covers of several very well known magazines such as Sports Illustrated and ESPN The Magazine.

Title matches in the UFC are 5x5 meaning there are five rounds with 5 minutes each. In non title matches however there are three five minute rounds, in both instances there is a one minute rest period between rounds. Every Harley Davidson enthusiast will agree that the true Harley Davidson experience requires some preparation besides the bike. What you wear when you ride your bike, for example, is very important. Harley leather jackets, leather vests and leather pants not only look great, they are also very important for your safety. You can find Harley apparel at most dealerships, or purchase them online. When you shop for Harley clothing online you may have a much bigger selection than at your local store.

Two of the most popular Harley garments are for example the famous black leather jacket and the black leather Harley vest, especially the classic ones with the Harley logo and the eagle on the back. They are not only great to demonstrate your attitude, but also to protect the rider.

When you order online, be aware that leather sizing is not always the same as regular street clothes sizing. Also remember that leather will stretch a little and mold to your body shape with frequent wearing. This does not mean that you should buy a size smaller as leather only gives in areas that it needs to. If you can't afford the more expensive leather apparel, a jacket or a vest made of denim with the original Harley Davidson logo on the back is a great choice as well.

Black leather pants are also critical for the rugged rider look. If you want to make sure that your leather pants match your jacket, it is a good idea to buy them together. As for pants, you will find several different styles available ranging from classic leather pants to leather motorcycle chaps that you can wear over your jeans or other pants.

Another classic Harley Davidson attire are the black leather boots. They are available in many styles for both men and women and will complete your outfit. Harley Davidson also sell other shoes, even sandals, however these are not recommended for riding.

Should a Harley rider wear a helmet or not? This is a question that has been asked many times and is left up to you as the rider to answer. We believe, safety is as important as the clothes you wear. And, let's face it: doesn't a Harley Davidson half helmet just look cool as hell? If you can't pull off this classic look, there are many other helmet styles available .

Whether you decide to wear a helmet or not, you definitely want goggles as they are important eye protection and will keep dust and bugs out of your eyes when you ride. And, of course, they add to the Harley look. No one looks cool with a dead bug in his or her eye.

Gloves are also important for bikers. Select a pair made of black leather too, or may be a pair that has open tipped, full fingers. Harley gloves also come heated if you are riding in cooler temperatures or rain. Gauntlets with fringe look are not everybody's taste but they sure look cool.

These are the 'must haves' for each Harley rider's wardrobe. If you want to add T shirts, jeans, rain gear, bandanas, watches or sunglasses, you also have a wide variety to choose from.

Harley Davidson leather jackets and pants are a significant investment, so make sure to take proper care of them. Preserve and protect the leather, especially if you are riding in any weather. Waterproofing and proper cleaning will help keep leather clothes supple and good looking, and will promote longevity of your Harley gear.

Every time I open my garage I see my Harley and smile. From the mammoth engine and the kickstand, there is nothing cooler. I want my clothes to reflect some small part of that feeling in some way, so wearing Harley clothes definitely fits the bill.
